HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY AND STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE MODERN SLAVERY ACT

IBB respects and supports the dignity, well-being and human rights of our employees, the workers in our extended supply chain and the communities in which we operate. Human rights are fundamental principles allowing people to lead a dignified life free from abuse and violation. Basic rights include freedom of speech, privacy, health, liberty and security as well as an adequate standard of living. Some human rights violations such as modern slavery are serious crimes where vulnerable people are exploited.

As a long established and highly regarded UK based wholesaler of precious metal jewellery, we are committed to ensuring that exploitation with regards to any form of slavery or human trafficking is eliminated from society.

Modern slavery is a crime resulting in an abhorrent abuse of the human rights of vulnerable workers. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to acting ethically in all our business dealings and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere within our own business or within our supply chain.

Policy

IBB is committed to respecting internationally recognised human rights in line with the principles of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. We recognise that companies as well as states have a responsibility in this regard which means acting with due diligence to avoid infringing on the rights of others.

Our Policy is committed to ensuring that there is no slavery or human trafficking in our supply chain or in any part of our business. We expect all parties who have or seek to have a business relationship with IBB to familiarise themselves with our human rights and anti-slavery policies and to act in accordance with them. We have in place supplier reviews, audit requirements and self-certification declarations from our suppliers and business partners. We will not tolerate abuse of human rights within any part of our business or supply chains and will take seriously any allegations that human rights are not properly respected.

Controls to Prevent Modern Slavery

IBB carries out on-going risk assessment of our business and supply chain to identify any potential areas of non-compliance or exposure and in particular:

  • It is the Directors’ responsibility to verify that adequate controls are in place and enforced.

  • IBB operates strict recruitment, selection and employment checks and processes with fair, ethical, and non-discriminatory employee practices regulated by the Directors. We ensure that all employees have “Right to Work in the UK” documentation before proceeding with employment and that they are paid fair and proper salary rates and benefits with full access to grievance procedures.

  • IBB clearly communicates its expectations of ethical business behaviour and respect for human rights with regards to our business partners and has indicated that it expects suppliers and business partners to have suitable anti-slavery and human trafficking policies and processes in place.

  • Training is carried out to ensure that our employees understand the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chain and our business and are supported in raising genuine concerns regarding such issues.

Breach of the Policy

IBB will terminate its commercial relationship with suppliers, contractors and other business partners if they breach this policy and/or are found to have been involved in modern slavery.

Any employee who breaches this policy will face disciplinary action, up to and including summary dismissal for gross misconduct.

This Policy is kept under review by the Directors on a regular basis and may be amended from time to time.
